Rhys' Bio

At the age of 11, Rhys had his first drum lesson.  He practiced daily but it was during his teenage years that he made his mark by successfully auditioning for the popular South Wales metal band Akira with whom he recorded two successful EPs.

In 2006 Rhys left the band to study drum kit at the Nexus Academy of Music in Coventry. For two years he was taught by drummers who had played at the highest level.  During this time Rhys gained invaluable drumming knowledge and versatility playing in many session gigs ranging from country to gospel.  He also played on numerous studio EPs gaining priceless recording and studio experience.  In his second year at Nexus, Rhys led many one to one classes as well as group teaching as many as eighteen students.  Rhys has also led several drum workshops. Having also completed the Trinity College Grade exams, Rhys has shown he has some excellent credentials.

Having returned home to Pontyclun, South Wales, and wanting to pass on his passion for drumming, Rhys was instrumental in setting up Drumming Solutions.   In April 2009 Rhys Married Sarah, a singing coach he met at Nexus.  They currently live in Pontypridd.
